The blessings of calamities

If with every calamity or misfortune you remain humble and remember God, than in it lies a great blessing. You are blessed with a reason to seek your creator. You are blessed with an opportunity to reflect at the situation at hand; to analyze your past life, and make changes to your future life. The longer this condition remains the greater the blessings will be. Don't view misfortunes as unpleasant no matter how difficult they are, rather, accept them and learn from them. Know that if all your calamities had been taken away, you would have taken a different course in life. You could have become neglectful and sinful. You must always learn to think positive. Whatever the will of God is, even if unpleasant in your situation, it is the best life for you now and for you in the future. Accept your destiny and make your dreams of your current situation a reality.

I believe that God has a flexible plan for each human being; a plan that allows that person to benefit the world with his/her unique talents. That is you. You are unique. Every circumstance has allowed you to impact others. God knows everything that has been created. Everything is fine-tuned with a great precision and timing. He uses your unique skills and talents to make a difference. He uses your circumstances to allow change to blossom. It is upon you whether to make a positive walk with every difficulty, or refuse to accept what has been destined for you. How you react to circumstances is how great you become. Remember, your life has been perfectly planned by God, as narrated In Saheeh Muslim (2653). It is narrated that 'Abd-Allāh ibn 'Amr ibn al-'Aas (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) say: “Allah wrote down the decrees of creation fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth.”

You must learn to understand that God allows circumstances to shape our life. They teach us valuable lessons. He speaks to us through circumstances. If you want to understand God, you must learn to meditate on your circumstances. First you must understand His word the Qur'an. It is His universal message to all mankind. Then, reflect at the situation at hand to understand the personal messages of God to you.

Analyze you life. Why did something happen? Look at the situation and circumstances. If a situation causes you to analyze your life 360 degrees, than by all beans, that is God giving you reasons to understand your nature and improve upon. He is teaching you your flaws and your bad habits. It is when you understand yourself that you can take a leap toward positive change.

No person is blessed more than someone who chooses to listen to God. When you listen to God, you become great. You see a different world although nothing physically has changed. Its amazing when you acquire knowledge. It is as you have been given new eyes. You see and understand things like never before. That's how God works. He allows misfortunes to shape us. Through misfortunes we acquire knowledge and skills we did not have before. We don't get better eyes to see things, we get a better understanding of all the things we have been seeing.

Most of us have a passive mind. We will not understand until we become attentive to the calls of life. When we have a passive mind, we only sees what the heart desires. A heart that is attentive; a purposeful heart sees that which is even against His/Her desires. So if a misfortune allows you to see something you do not want to see, you have received the greatest blessing. This misfortune has given you a new insight in life. It has blessed you with knowledge you did not have.

May all your circumstances instill the love of God in your life and  to everyone you encounter. Ameen.
